In 2001, Azucena (Suzie) Castillo, from Belize, first noticed that her knees were becoming a problem.

“My doctor said that I had arthritis and as time went on the pain became more intense.” By 2010, the pain was so excruciating that she couldn’t do the things that she enjoyed. “I used to dance and walk for exercise and I couldn’t even get groceries without a struggle.”

She found herself becoming more and more inactive because of the pain and started gaining weight as a result.

Last spring her doctor informed her that she needed a bi-lateral knee replacement, to maintain her quality of life.
